TWS Energy Storage Project Case Series 3: TWS Smart Energy Storage Charging Station Leads the New Trend of Green Transport
02/08/2024

By leveraging its keen market insight and solid technical foundation in the wave of the booming growth in the global new energy vehicle (NEV) industry, TWS Anhui positively responds to the national policy for promoting green and low carbon transport, and gets involved in the investment and construction of TWS smart energy storage charging station in Huaibei, Anhui Province. With a scale of 525 kW/1075.2 kWh, this charging station integrates energy storage and charging functions. It has been put into operation in June 2024, aiming to provide more convenient and efficient charging services for new energy vehicle users.

Faced with the severe challenges of electricity anxiety, high time cost and fragmented service demands commonly encountered by NEV users, TWS smart energy storage charging station reshapes the charging experience with a comprehensive and integrated service mode. Besides the efficient fast charging services, it also integrates car washing and maintenance, as well as comfortable dining and rest space. It offers one-stop service ranging from power supply to travel demands. The charging station contains five 105 kW/215 kWh MU P10 liquid-cooling energy storage cabinets that are independently developed by TWS Anhui, as well as the box transformer, twenty 120 kW DC charging piles and five 7 kW AC charging piles, with totaling 35 charging spots, which can quickly supplement electric energy for taxis, e-hailing vehicles, and private cars to meet the daily transport needs.

TWS MU P10 liquid-cooling energy storage cabinets can realize efficient conversion of electric energy, and the system efficiency is greater than 90%. The powerful liquid cooling technology plus the temperature difference of not exceeding 3% within the cabinet ensures a long life cycle. It is equipped with three levels of overcurrent protection and three layers of fire safety design. At the same time, it integrates advanced Internet of Things, big data and cloud computing technologies to realize real-time monitoring and intelligent analysis of the operating status of the charging station. The whole system adopts the peak-valley arbitrage strategy, that is, charging during valley hours while discharging during peak hours to balance electricity demand and supply, thereby cutting electricity costs. The combined application of energy storage and charging station reduces the operating cost of the charging station by nearly 20% and improves the operating flexibility. The energy storage system can respond quickly when the grid power supply is insufficient or faulty, thus ensuring the normal operation of the charging station, reducing the queue time, and alleviating the impact of centralized vehicle charging on the grid. The price is more competitive in the market, and the annual direct economic income can be increased by approximately CNY 400,000. The project is expected to cover the energy storage investment costs within three years.
